Air New Zealand's treasury team won the INFINZ “Excellence in Treasury” prize for the second time in three years at the recent industry awards function in Wellington. Air New Zealand's CFO, Rob MacDonald (the company's former Treasurer) accepted the award on behalf of the treasury team, headed by industry stalwart, Paul Kelway. Apart from their normal treasury business of aircraft lease-finance deals and hedging jet fuel/FX, the treasury function has arranged all their creditor payments globally onto an electronic banking platform. No mean feat, when the numbers of countries they land in and buy supplies from are considered. The three other finalists this year were, SKYCITY Entertainment Group, Infratil and Kiwibank.
